Oncology-safe facial
I talk a lot about prevention, (because what could be better than recognizing symptoms early and taking action to solve the problem or prevent it from getting worse?) but what happens when it’s already too late?
May is skin cancer awareness month, and it is still the most common type of cancer in the United States. An estimated 9,500 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. every day. We Floridians know to wear sunscreen daily. We know to wear hats, or UV clothing when we’re outside for long periods of time. We know to bring umbrellas or tents to the beach, so we have some shade during the day. We know to avoid tanning beds. We know to get yearly skin cancer checks with our dermatologist. We try our best. But we’re not perfect.
The most common areas where skin cancer forms are the ears, scalp, nose and face. Many times, your esthetician can be the first line of defense in noticing changes in your skin, irregular moles, etc. Regular facials aren’t just a luxury beauty treatment. If done correctly, they are part of your overall health and wellness regimen. After all, your skin is the largest organ in your body.
However, for those who have already been diagnosed with a skin cancer or any type of cancer, for those who are in remission, for those who need more gentle care, more intentional, non-toxic products, I’m very honored to be able to offer an oncology-safe facial. Please think of rebel + dart for yourself or any friends or family members who have been touched by cancer.
