herbal consultations

The role of your herbalist is to act as a partner to you in your health journey and foster a two-way conversation. The time spent in your consultation is for you, and we support you without judgement or agenda. The information you share is completely confidential. Although your herbalist cannot diagnose, or prescribe drugs, we will have a thorough and in-depth discussion of your current diagnoses, medications, and health-related questions, including reviewing your health history and relevant laboratory results. We work in tandem with recommendations made by your primary care physician or specialist. All recommended herbs will be vetted prior to formulating to ensure there are no interactions with medications or supplements you are currently taking.

Our focus is on tailoring the herbal protocol to your specific needs and what works best for your life. However, clients are expected to buy-in to the process of potentially needing to change their behaviors and patterns in order to work toward optimizing their health and well-being. It is your responsibility to read the materials provided to you, to ask for clarification or explanation where needed, and to implement the recommended protocol. Your herbalist is your ally throughout this process and is always on your side. If something isn’t working for you, we will revise, brainstorm a new method, or develop a new protocol in order to co-create a solution. We are a team.

During your consultation, expect to talk about any primary health concerns you might have. These could include digestive issues, heart and cardiovascular health, pregnancy support, sleep and skin support, mental health and anxiety, immune and energy support, respiratory issues, and so much more. Herbs can be supportive for a myriad of health concerns, so there is no limit to what we can cover. In addition to your primary concerns, your herbalist will ask into diet, daily routine, and the various systems of the body in order to ensure there might not be additional areas that could use herbal support.

You should feel relaxed during the appointment, having snacks, a cup of tea or anything else that makes you feel at ease. We ask that you schedule your appointments at a time when you will have minimal external distractions are in a safe space to openly share.

You will not receive your protocol or recommendations at the end of the initial consultation. Your herbalist takes an additional 1-2 hours after your appointment to review their notes, research herbs, relevant pathophysiology and any potential herbal/drug interactions prior to developing your custom formulations. Approximately 1 week after your consultation you will receive an email from your herbalist with their feedback and recommendations.
